How do I find the house of my dreams without getting cheated? Can I find such a house on the internet? Do I have to visit Italy frequently to view houses? Finding a House

Surfing the internet is something anyone can do. Italian websites with houses on offer are abundant, such as Immobiliare.it, Idealista.it, Casa.it, etc. Sometimes, advertisements are posted directly by the sellers, and sometimes by intermediary real estate agents. These Italian agents also have their own websites, ranging from large and nationally operating (Tecnocasa, Gabetti, etc.) to small and local. But, try to see the forest for the trees. The information on the sites is often limited (and notoriously unreliable!). And the photos are often far from appealing and don't provide a comprehensive overview.

So, how do you go about finding a house? If you contact a real estate agent, you are committed to them (and to 3% commission, quickly 5,000 euros or more). Making an appointment for a viewing is often very difficult in practice (as strange as this may sound). Appointments are often not honored or canceled at the last minute. So, how do you organize viewings of several interesting houses (from different sellers/agents) in a week or long weekend? The risk is high (not just present, no: high) that you come to Italy for nothing.
